Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Perform inspection duties and airworthiness inspection duties utilizing engineering drawings and orders, route cards, inspection travelers, technical specifications, QA procedures and instruction and other related documents. Conduct first article inspections.
- Check incoming freight for mishandling and damages, note damages against carriers; verify carrier waybill against material received.
- Process and verify each receipt documentation against contents (part #s quantities and condition of material) CERTS, 8130s and GA 802 Form. .
- Ensure material meets the chemical and physical properties as stated in routing requirements.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspection on all critical dimensions using micrometer, calipers, height gauges. Test hardness of material and thickness using multiple gauges.
- Read and interpret blue prints; Identify parts per GAMPS 1105; Generate parts identification tags as required. (8130-3, 307 tags, etc.).
- Interpret route cards and initiate purchase orders for outside sources (e.g. suppliers).
- Coordinate problem resolutions with Suppliers and Purchasing. .
- Expedite and prioritize Supplier backlogs.
- Operate material handling equipment and company vehicles as required. .
Additional Functions:
- Work with and instruct subordinate inspectors in techniques of inspection functions and other related duties applicable to the area. .
- Meet department accuracy and backlog requirements. .
- Assist lead in area operation improvements. .
- Learn and apply Lean concepts within functional responsibilities. Support continuous improvement culture including lean principles, sustainability initiatives, ergonomic improvements, safety, and cross functional teams. .
Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to become proficient in blueprint reading and interpretation; competent in related shop math.
- Able to comply with FAA regulations and Quality procedures.
- Requires PC experience and knowledge of automated material receiving systems: Receiving, Shop Floor Control, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality.
- On feet most of shift and must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Requires ability to operate forklift and gas/electric powered carts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
