About this position:
Territory: Greater Fresno Area (From Turlock, CA and south through Fresno, CA)
Farwest's Sales Department, seeks a motivated and customer focused individual to join their Stockton team as Outside Sales Representative. In this role, you will establish, cultivate, and nurture relationships with Farwest customers by delivering quality metal solutions that drive customer success.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
  • Build strong partnerships with existing customer base to increase their profitability through their relationship with Farwest.
  • Expand business with current customers through vertical integration and supply programs with a focus on moving the relationship from a transaction basis to a fully integrated partnership.
  • Educate new accounts about Farwest's available inventory, services, and capabilities.
  • Determine customer needs by looking at existing supply chain issues and creating solutions to support the customer's business.
  • Partner with the Inside Sales Team to maximize customer service.
  • Utilize and direct all resources of the company (inside sales, operations, credit and logistics) to assure a successful partnership.
  • Actively engage in the problem-solving process with Customer and internal Farwest resources when issues arise.
  • Obtain and provide market information to assist customers.
  • Actively enhance existing customer base through prospecting, cold-calling, and networking opportunities.
  • Assume responsibility for providing prompt, detailed and actionable information related to all phases of customer service.
  • Research competitors in the territory to identify information that can be used to develop strategies that build market share.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous sales experience in steel, manufacturing or other related business.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in Business, Communications, Marketing, or other relevant field.
  • Steel industry product knowledge through steel service center, fabrication shop, manufacturing operation or mill is critical.
  • Basic mathematic skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced team environment.
  • Proven track record of success in building strong customer relationships and improving market saturation.

Professional Competencies:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiar with computers and related sales performance tracking tools.
