Job description

Koerner Distributor seeks a sales associate for our Breese, IL market.

Territory Management

General Summary: General responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the proper management of an established sales territory including selling, servicing, merchandising, administration, and accounts receivable.

  • Actively use a master route book/system to facilitate and ensure consistent customer contact.
  • Properly pre-plan and execute sales initiatives.
  • Keep management abreast of competitive information and activity.
  • Handle any/all customer related issues that arise in your territory.
  • Balance a full 5 day/45 hour minimum work week to maximize the growth of your assigned territory.

Selling

  • Have a full understanding of the products and pricing schedules offered.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make effective sales presentations.
  • Achieve assigned company objectives.
  • Successfully grow business in all accounts with extra focus on the importance of key volume accounts.
  • Identify and nurture new accounts as well as opportunity/problem accounts.

Merchandising
Off-Premise

  • Focus on proper display size and locations for achieving maximum sales.
  • Manage shelf position, space, and pricing according to established standards; know and explain shelf merchandising standards.
  • Merchandise cold boxes using established division guidelines and priority lists; merchandise properly with pricing and POS.
  • Use all available current POS to enhance selling efforts; use individual creative efforts to highlight company business with focus on all areas including windows, displays, shelves, cold boxes, counters, and any other areas where consumers can be impacted or influenced.
  • Sell current coupon and cross merchandising programs to obtain optimum sales results.

On-Premise

  • Successfully position product to the established company/supplier standards on back bars, wine lists, feature cards, etc.
  • Position all available supplier and in-house POS materials to maximize market visibility for all brands.
  • Utilize available printing and design capabilities to create effective wine list and print features.
  • Position products effectively throughout all selling areas in accounts from kitchen area through to Captains list features.

Servicing

  • Follow the “ten steps to a sales call” philosophy when making account calls.
  • Make regular and consistent calls on all customers.
  • Perform reliable inventory checks and communicate properly to minimize order mistakes.
  • Properly rotate products on shelves, cold boxes, displays, backbars, etc.
  • Handle all special issues/problems to maintain good customer relationships.

Administration

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Handle all paperwork issues in a proper and timely manner.
  • Be aware of and communicate market activity in terms of competitive activity, pricing issues, schematic changes, ad activity, and any/all factors affecting the marketplace.
  • Properly use and care for all company property including the handheld ordering device.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and presentable working area and vehicle condition.
  • Adhere to company’s strict quality assurance policy.

Job Specifications:

  • BS degree or equivalent work experience (including, but not limited to, prior sales experience).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must exhibit professionalism and self-discipline in all areas.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be execution oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Computer proficient with working knowledge of Microsoft and Apple Applications.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and practice safe working and driving habits.
  • Ability to life up to 50 pounds.
  • Good attendance and punctuality is a must.
  • Background check and drug screening prior to employment.
