I. SUMMARY:
At Catholic Charities West Virginia (CCWVa), we have a culture deeply rooted in Catholic social teaching and respect all Catholic beliefs and practices.
The Outreach Worker is responsible for direct assistance for client aid, operation of the food pantry, compiling monthly reports of assistance, and assisting with special/seasonal events.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Works closely with the Outreach Coordinator and the Regional Director to establish areas of program development to strengthen services provided.
· Assists with the transportation of heavy items including furniture and appliances for the thrift store.
· Operation of the food pantry.
· Assists with large produce distributions for the food pantry.
· Completes emergency assistance applications.
· Determines client eligibility for aid.
· Maintains financial records as required by Catholic Charities and other governing agencies.
· Responsible for compiling monthly reports of assistance provided.
· Contacts appropriate utility companies, pharmacies, etc. with information of assistance.
· May require travel.
III. ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
· Maintains, picks up, and organizes thrift store donations.
· Assists with special/seasonal events as needed.
· Attends appropriate training.
· Attends staff meetings.
· Locates other resources to enhance programs and services.
· Assists in supervision of volunteers.
· Performs other duties assigned by the Outreach Coordinator.
· The employee must possess vision, ability to read, write, and operate a motor vehicle.
IV. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Outreach Worker may supervise volunteers.
V. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- High school or equivalent, plus sufficient experience in social service field.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- WV Social Work License eligibility.
- Ability to work with economically disadvantaged clientele with compassion, understanding and a positive attitude.
- Own transportation helpful.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
VI. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· The employee must often lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to write, type, etc.

· The noise in the work environment is usually moderate.
· May be exposed to varying weather conditions due to job-related travel.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $11.50 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 21 per week
