Outreach Assistant
Full-time position to assist in implementation of library programs and outreach activities for all ages. Reports to Program Manager.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Program Manager with planning and delivering high-quality, creative, and engaging learning activities for all ages.
Manages bookmobile, homebound, and outreach delivery schedule and calendars along with the Program Manager.
Plans and implements regular outreach services by identifying community partners and needs.
Ensures the mobile library and outreach collections are well-maintained.
Provides reader’s advisory services to mobile library, outreach, and homebound patrons.
Manages patron accounts for bookmobile, outreach, and homebound patrons.
Knowledgeable about mobile library vehicles and able to operate and drive mobile library vehicles.
Responsible for ensuring monthly mobile library vehicle maintenance checks are completed, that vehicle problems are appropriately communicate, and that the mobile library are kept clean and working order.
Under direction of the Program Manager, contact and schedule potential visits for the mobile library.
Deliver programs in the library and at off-site locations in the community; represent the library at community events.
Plan and deliver STEM-related programs.
Assist Program Manager with evaluating the impact and effectiveness of library services and programs by gathering and analyzing feedback from participants.
Assist the Program Manager with updating website calendar and events information.
Assist the Program Manager with identifying underserved populations and targeting programs to meet their needs.
Cultivate an atmosphere of active engagement and create learning environments that support needs and interests of patrons.
Create an inclusive, welcoming and respectful library atmosphere that embraces diversity.
Interprets the library’s policies and procedures to the public in a patron-responsive manner, as well as to staff.
Requirements:
Technology skills and proven ability to learn and embrace new technology.
Eagerness to learn new things and share knowledge and expertise with others.
Positive demeanor; enthusiasm for working with people.
Valid driver’s license with no restrictions and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with planning and delivering programs.
Experience with organizing and managing events.
Experience working with young people ages 0 – 18.
Experience working with adult learners.
