Job Description
Summary
Incumbent is responsible for assisting the DHS Outreach and Disaster Response Supervisor with responding to and assisting with Disaster Response including tasks related Incident Command Structure and coordination of response protocols, reporting, scheduling, record keeping, assisting the Emergency Behavioral Health (EBH) Disaster Response Assistant as necessary, and other related duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Respond to natural or manmade disasters upon activation by the Red Cross and or Salvation Army, local emergency management coordinators, Allegheny County Emergency Services or another entity.
Attend Healthcare Coalition, Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), Region 13, and VOAD meetings.
Acquire and stay up to date on required Incident Command Structure (ICS) certifications.
Assist with searching ClientView for disaster victims currently active with any Allegheny County Department of Human Services programs.
Connect disaster victims with services, when needed.
Act as primary point of contact for Disaster Response in absence of supervisor:
Schedule disaster staffing
Attend situation reports meetings
Maintain DHS reports/logs
Coordinate necessary staples (clothes, food, hygiene kits)
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Additional Responsibilities
From time to time the employee will be required to perform additional tasks and duties as required by the employer.
From time to time, employee will need to work outside of normal business hours and on weekends.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent organizational skills; detail oriented and conscientious about the quality of work.
- Strong computer skills working with Microsoft software, experience in report writing and experience in collection and organization of data.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently to problem solve related to job responsibilities based on knowledge of quality standards, pertinent issues related to population served and the operating practices of Allegheny County.
- Some knowledge of Allegheny County preferred.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to complete necessary training requirements for Basic Local Certification for Allegheny County Municipal Level Local Emergency Management (Certified through PEMA):

Education/Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus two years previous experience working with the Disaster Response.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience that meets the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
