Job Description:
A Physical Therapist (PT) working in an outpatient rehabilitation setting is a healthcare professional who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. Outpatient rehabilitation typically involves providing physical therapy services to individuals who do not require 24-hour care and can commute to a healthcare facility for treatment.
Responsibilities:
Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough assessments of patients to identify impairments, limitations, and functional goals. Perform diagnostic tests and measures to gather information about the patient's physical condition.
Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on the assessment findings and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Set specific goals and establish a plan of care to address the patient's needs and improve functional outcomes.
Therapeutic Interventions: Administer a variety of therapeutic interventions to address musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions.
This may include: Therapeutic exercises to improve strength, flexibility, and endurance. Manual therapy techniques such as joint mobilization and soft tissue mobilization.
Modalities like ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat/cold therapy.
Patient Education: Educate patients on their conditions, treatment plans, and strategies for self-management. Provide guidance on home exercises and activities to reinforce progress made during therapy.
Rehabilitation Exercises: Design and supervise rehabilitation exercises to address specific functional deficits or to aid in post-surgical recovery. Monitor and adjust exercise programs based on patient progress.
Pain Management: Assess and manage pain using a combination of therapeutic interventions and techniques. Implement strategies to improve pain tolerance and reduce discomfort.
Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists, to ensure comprehensive care for the patient.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient assessments, interventions, and progress. Document any changes in the patient's condition and the effectiveness of the treatment plan.
Continuity of Care: Communicate with referring physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- State License to practice.
- ABPTS certifications.
