Summit Psychological Associates, Inc. is a large behavioral health agency with a multidisciplinary staff of counselors, social workers, psychologists, psychology interns/assistants, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and case managers across three counties in Ohio. Summit Psychological Associates provides services to adults and children, individuals with Mental Health and substance use disorders and to clients involved with the criminal justice system. As our programming grows, we are looking for licensed social workers (Master level LSW/LISW), marriage and family therapists (MFT), licensed professional counselors (LPC/LPCC) and psychologists to join our treatment team in either our Canton or Akron locations. Clinicians interested in providing forensic services would be trained to work in Individual and group treatment with a wide variety of forensically involved patients. Group treatment is provided to adults who commit sex offenses, domestic violence offenders and clients with developmental disabilities who have committed sex offenses. There are groups on anger management, soliciting and drug and alcohol abuse as well.
Psychologists also have the opportunity to conduct a wide variety of forensic psychological evaluations including, but not limited to, Competency to Stand Trial, Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, Risk Assessments, Parenting Evaluations and Pre-Sentence Evaluations.
Counselors and Social Workers with the Supervision designation would have the ability to supervise LPC and LSW clinicians. Psychologists would have the ability to provide supervision to psychology assistants and psychology interns.
Clinicians have the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely for some of their week. Non-independent clinicians are provided supervision to assist in attaining independent licensure. Newly hired clinicians are assigned either a supervisor (for non-independent clinicians) or a senior clinician (for independently licensed clinicians) to orient the new staff member to agency procedures and to the electronic medical record. Twelve hours of free continuing education are provided to staff every year. Clinicians meet weekly to learn agency updates, procedure changes and to staff cases.
Summit Psychological Associates, Inc. is certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OMHAS), and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its outpatient treatment Mental Health programs serving adults, children and adolescents, and the criminal justice population.
