Your Opportunity

Our contract with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is serviced by our field crew who inspect, photo document and update information on Outdoor Adverting Signs (Billboards) as well as Vegetation Management at Outdoor Advertising Signs along the Interstates and State Highways in the State of Florida. This keeps FDOT in compliance with Federal Highway for state funds. We are currently seeking to add another member to our team of Inspectors, with focus on the Pensacola region. This role inspects and documents inventory and data for the Inspector's assigned jurisdiction alongside interstates and controlled highways in the State of Florida. The Outdoor Advertising Inspector is also responsible for the field review to support Application for Outdoor Advertising Signs and Vegetation Management at Outdoor Advertising Signs.

Your Key Responsibilities 
  • Perform ODA sign inventory on controlled routes in various counties.
  • Maintains up to date inventory of structures in area/region of operation; process information for new proposed application permits for the DOT.
  • Perform field reviews and document ODA applications for signs and/or vegetation management at ODA signs on digital device.
  • Photograph billboards using assigned smartphone and upload data collection to our client's ODA software.
  • Conducts follow-up inspections or reviews and required status updates on approved signs or sign revisions and special assignments as designated.
  • Maintain assigned equipment; provide feedback to supervisor or technician as required to maintain equipment and ensure quality equipment performance.
  • Perform non-permitted sign inventory, photograph and prepare required reports for unauthorized Signs (illegal signs).
  • Conduct daily safety checks; includes safety reports and monthly safety meetings. Company safety courses and instructed trainings as well as first aid and CPR will be required annually.
  • Daily inspection of vehicle; Operate and maintain vehicle under state, federal and local regulations as well as company policies 'and procedures. Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle, inside and out.
  • Responsible for the completion and accuracy of expense reports; weekly timesheets; and other company documentation on digital device. 
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Effective communicator, organized, and with great interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently to accomplish goals in a team-oriented environment.
  • Capable to record inventory using software on your assigned computer, smartphone, and iPad.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Experience using Android/Apple mobile operating systems; installing apps, app store, cut & paste, screen capture, bookmark, and photographing.
  • Understanding of GIS; coordinate systems, longitude and latitude.
  • Strong knowledge of measurements using measuring wheel; distance measuring Instrument and range finder; and map measuring tools.
  • Ability to prepare and understand sketches related to ODA signs; and to read and interpret map locations from digital maps.
  • Comprehension of straight-line diagrams.
  • Sufficient agility to enter and exit vehicle many times a day, able to drive 40 hours a week.
  • Flexibility to travel within Florida, possibly some overnight stays.
  • Satisfactory driving record and valid driver's license.
Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate.
  • Some work experience and/or related experience in regulatory enforcement or inspection services. 

This is a remote position, primarily performed from your assigned vehicle as well as from your home office, using Wi-Fi to upload completed work daily. Some overnight travel will be required, when travelling to the farthest areas within your jurisdiction.

This role requires approximately 40 hours per week spent driving and involves exposure to outside physical elements and wildlife.
