Position Summary
Oversee the Outbound operation of the Distribution Center to assure efficient and accurate processing of outbound merchandise and movement of inventory achieving superior customer service and maximized sales.
Responsibilities
- Direct staff: select, hire, train, coach, develop and assure performance. Administer discipline and assure morale.
- Provide input for annual expense budget and manpower requirements.
- Understand all functional areas of IRMS/WMS with expertise in the outbound areas to problem solve, make decisions, expedite processes and provide coaching.
- Maintain effective, positive employee relations in the facility to enable the company to attract, retain and motivate highly qualified hourly and salaried employees.
- Assure compliance and consistently administer company policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain a work environment, which promotes employee inclusion, recognition and effective communication.
- Develop Outbound-operating strategies to manage future growth, improve quality and reduce operating cost.
- Determine staffing level to meet productivity requirements and DC performance expectations.
- Ensure that the staff has proper training, certification, and access to the necessary power equipment to perform their assigned tasks. Also ensure that the equipment is adequately maintained.
- Coach and counsel employees as necessary and ensure timely and effective performance reviews.
- Meet and consult with other management staff within the facility to ensure the optimum performance and efficiency of the whole facility.
- Measure and analyze performance statistics for the purpose of setting goals and maintaining or exceeding standards, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Identify problem areas and work with supervisors and their teams to provide solutions that will continue to raise performance levels.
- Promote open, honest communication between departments and across functions within the distribution center as well as with internal customers and those outside the distribution center.
- Assure compliance with all safety and environmental standards, policy and regulations.
- Analyze employee statistics for the purpose of setting, maintaining or raising employee performance.
- Understand FDM4 in the order entry area, plus be competent in retrieving customer and inventory information for decision-making purposes.
- Interface with Inventory Control and Customer Service Departments in the areas of shortages and customer expectations to meet the company’s goal of customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for all aspects of the facility’s Customer Pickup Operation, from order readiness to the daily deposits. including update and maintenance of the showroom.
- Review hourly employee payroll daily and submit temporary help hours weekly.
- Assist with new product placement by providing manpower and equipment.
- Serve as a member of the DC management team providing assistance as needed.

- Interpersonal: demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships at all organization levels.
- Understanding of Distribution Center operating systems.
- In depth knowledge of warehouse practices, procedures and systems typically acquired through progressive related experiences.
- Strong analytical, comprehension and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive and participate in change and to adapt to change in a positive manner.
- Previous experience in distribution or a manufacturing environment.
- Strong team building and motivation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to delegate effectively.
- Ability to prioritize and set goals to achieve company objectives.
- Strong knowledge of WMS applications.
- Strong planning skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated budget and manpower planning experience.
- Strong PC application skills.
- Previous experience with distribution technology and automation preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Supervisor or manager in a large, diverse work force in a dynamic work environment that is driven by accurate and timely (same day) order fulfillment.
