POSITION:Out of District Reading Specialist (part time)LOCATION: Saint PhilomenasGENERAL DUTIES: To instruct students in readingREPORTS TO: Principal and/or designee. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Reading Teacher/Specialist or Reading Specialist/Consultant (K-12);2. Experience in the teaching of reading and language arts;3.
Ability to know and utilize technology in the teaching and learning process;4. Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, educational experience, and the interview process.5.Bilingual preferred.RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Teaches reading, utilizing the school department's curricula and other appropriate learning activities;2.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student;3.Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction;4.Evaluates students academic growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports, and maintains Personal Literacy Plans;5.Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress and interpret the school program;6.Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities;7.Administers reading assessment in accordance with district testing program.8.Participates in curriculum development programs as required;9.Performs such other duties as assigned by the principal.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly Employee: $ 70/ per hour of instructional time during the school day. Schedule determined by building admin. No benefits included.St.
