Job Responsibilities:

Our Project Managers ensure projects are successfully completed, on time and on budget. They will direct and manage the full project life cycle, setting standards for work-plans for various levels of engineers. They will be responsible for the delivery and management of the agreed and defined scope of work to the client, providing effective management to teams and giving guidance to stakeholders.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Plan the project

  • Define the scope of the project in collaboration with senior management
  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
  • Determine the required resources (recommended engineers, time, money, etc) to successfully complete the project
  • Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities in a manner appropriate to a matrix engineer organization

Staff the project

  • Manage project staff according to the established policies and practices ensuring staffing costs are maintained within defined budgets where applicable
  • Ensure that any personnel records/files are properly maintained, kept confidential and transmitted to the office
  • Identify qualified consultants within organization, where required, to work on the project as appropriate

Implement the project

  • Manage the project according to the project plan and the scope of work
  • Ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured
  • Manage the progress of the project to ensure the successful completion of the project within the agreed scope, schedule and budget
  • Identify variances to project scope and immediately discuss same with the Client and obtain a change order to preserve margin and profitability. This is especially important when managing seconded employees to insure they are performing to scope and all hours spent will be billable
  • On a weekly basis update all stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project; in the event of a major issue bring it to the attention of management as soon as possible
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards
  • Escalate any project changes to the projects board

Control the project

  • Provide reports on the project for management and for client on a weekly basis reporting against budgeted cost to estimate to complete
  • Ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date
  • Manage the project to the scope of work and recognize any out of scope activities as an opportunity for a contract change order

Evaluate the project

  • Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
  • Evaluate the outcomes of the project continually
  • Provide a report of any "lessons learned" as appropriate

Non-Project Duties

  • Provide support and assistance as required to work colleagues
  • Provide non-standard reports and documentation as required
  • Availability to travel to and participate in face to face kick-off meetings with clients
  • Other Ad Hoc duties as they arise
  • In addition to the above, the Project Manager is responsible for information security and compliance for their department. This includes:
  • Working with their team members to identify, address and log any security weaknesses or incidents relevant to their department or any part of the organization
  • Take ownership for incidents/weakness reporting for their team
  • Understanding ISMS procedures and policies

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • University Degree in a related discipline
  • Scrum Master Certification
  • Minimum of 4 years of successful project management experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prince2 Practitioner certification is desirable
  • MS Office proficient
  • Experience in an automation background is desirable
  • A valid driver's license is desirable but not essential
