Responsibilities:
- Performs diagnostic evaluation, minor surgical procedures, orthopedic procedures, and emergency services
- Attends all staff and practitioner meetings as appropriate
- Ensures appropriate and efficient systems in patient care, formulary content and medical supplies
- Obtains detailed patient history and performs comprehensive physical exams aimed at identifying acute and chronic health conditions, as well as prospective problems
- Performs or orders x-rays, electrocardiograms, laboratory tests or other diagnostic procedures, and interprets results.
- Administers such therapeutic procedures as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care.
- Performs orthopedic primary care including fracture management stabilization and reduction where appropriate including casting with complete fracture care follow up. Recognizes and prevents morbidity associated with such.
- Manages soft tissue/musculoskeletal injuries.
- Prescribes appropriate medications.
- Maintains required records and documents progress notes on patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.
- Performs pre-employment and DOT exams
- Sees and follows up workers compensation injury
- Communicates plans with employers
- Makes referrals to physical therapy when appropriate.
- Instructs patients on prescribed therapeutic regimens, home care, and health maintenance.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- 2+ years of Orthopedic experience which includes the ability to manage adult and pediatric patients OR 2+ years of Occupational Medicine (or combination)
- Licensure in the state in which you are applying as a Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner required.
- Must be in good standing with no restrictions to practice in the state where you are applying.
