Primary Accountabilities
The Records Technician is responsible for taking records on all exams/recall, sending and receiving records, helping with preparing patients and sterilizing instruments. To do well in this role you should have a great level of patient care.
Major Duties:
- Prepares patients for orthodontic work.
- Helps with infection control by sterilizing and disinfecting instruments.
- Assists providers with procedures like observation and retainer checks.
- Records treatment information in patient records.
- Forms impressions for study casts and appliances.
- Take records on patients (iCat, iTero and photos).
- Send and receive records and discs on patients to and from other providers.
- Performs calibration on iCat machine.
- Educates patients and parents on proper oral hygiene and care of orthodontic appliances during and after treatment.
- Maintain HIPAA/patient confidentiality requirements.
- Adhere to OSHA/infection control procedures.
- Excellent teamwork.
- Provides great patient care.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must consistently maintain professional appearance and attitude.
- Must possess the ability to provide great patient care.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, type and see.
- The employee is frequently required to walk and is occasionally required to stand.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
