New England Donor Services (NEDS) coordinates organ and tissue donation in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, the eastern counties of Vermont and Bermuda. Responsible for one of the largest of the 56 Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) that make up the nation's donation system, NEDS works with over 200 hospitals and serves 14 million people in our region, screening nearly 55,000 potential donor referrals annually. With approximately $110M in operating revenues, NEDS employs 300 clinical and non-clinical staff members throughout New England and across the country.

Job Description
New England Donor Services is seeking an experienced ICU RN, Critical Care RN, Trauma Nurse to join our team. As a Donation Coordinatoryou will respond on-site to organ donor referrals to provide clinical expertise in donor evaluation, donor management, organ allocation and organ recovery.
You will blend high level clinical and people skills to educate hospital staff on the donation process, work with donor families to obtain consent for donation and work with multiple surgical teams and Critical Care staff to optimize organs for transplantation. Success in this role requires a self-assured professional who has keen clinical assessment skills, the ability to be flexible and remain calm and effective in highly charged and clinically complex situations.
Schedule:
  • Orientation: 24 and 16-hour on-call shifts. Average 13 shifts per month + trainings + meetings. Significant travel with personal vehicle throughout all of New England is expected. Mileage and other reimbursements available.
  • Independent: Mix of 24 and 16-hour call shifts. Expect 8 shifts per 4 week schedule (6 24-hour, 2 16-hour) + trainings + meetings. Significant travel with personal vehicle throughout New England is expected. Mileage and other reimbursements available.

Qualifications
  • Optimal candidates have Critical Care or trauma experience with medical/clinical credentials including experience managing complicated clinical event
  • Must have valid driver's license and insurance (extensive driving throughout New England is required) and have reliable transportation.
  • Ideal candidate must have the following:
    • Critical thinking skills and keen clinical assessment skills
    • Ability to work long hours (could be out over 24 hours)
    • Be compassionate and have conflict resolution skills
    • Able to sit, stand or bend for extended period of time
    • Have great work ethic and be forward thinking

Education and Experience
  • 3-5 years clinical experience/Critical Care experience and a Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • CPTC Certification a plus
  • Ideal candidates live in/near the Worcester, MA area

**This position requires travel to Waltham Headquarters and various hospitals throughout New England
