Job Description
A specialized dentist responsible for diagnosis, surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and esthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region.
Essential Functions1. Coordinates the preparation of reports and written documentation as required by the department, company, state and federal agencies.
2. Consults with the patients and advises them of their oral surgery needs. Suggests necessary treatment and provides risks and alternatives for said treatment.
3. Responsible for evaluating and consulting about patient’s oral surgery needs while still evaluating patient’s overall dental needs.
4. Maintains current knowledge base of dental and oral surgery literature and provides guidance in a manner that reflects this.
5. Provides lectures and or seminars on specific assigned topics by the Chief Dental Director.
6. Maintains current California Dental License, DEA Certificate, and PALS.
7. Completes administrative duties as assigned by the Chief Dental Director.
Other Responsibilities1. Complies with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
2. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
3. Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed.
4. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Supervisory RelationshipReports directly to Chief Dental Director. Oversees Dental Staff and Assistants and reports any misconduct and/or performance issues to clinical supervisor and/or Dental Director.
Requirements
Position Qualifications- Education: DDS Degree and completion of a US accredited; Residency Program in Oral Surgery.
- Certification: Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of California, Residency Program Certificate in Oral Surgery, Board Certification preferred, DEA License and PALS certificate.
- Experience: 2 years experience preferable.
- Supervisory Experience: Supervision of dental assistants. Experience preferred.
- Equipment Used: Front office equipment including a computer
- Technical Knowledge: Computer skills involving word processing, email and dental management programs such as Dentrix are preferable.
- Skills: (Other): Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred. Good oral and written communication.
- Physical Activities : Mostly standing position while bending forward to evaluate patients.
- Working Traits: Good communications skills with the public and other employees. Patience and understanding toward others.
- Working Conditions: May be required to work some evenings and/or Saturdays.
