Oracle Linux Administrator

Gunnison provides comprehensive cybersecurity support services to the HHS OCIO. We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented professional to support our Atlanta CSIRC team.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• System Design and Implementation
  • Design, install, configure, and maintain Oracle Linux systems.
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals to implement new solutions and improve existing infrastructure.
• System Administration
  • Perform routine system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, and key processes.
  • Ensure high levels of system performance, availability, and security.
• Patch Management
  • Manage and apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
  • Stay current with system updates and security vulnerabilities.
• Security and Compliance
  • Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard systems from unauthorized access.
  • Ensure systems comply with security policies and standards.
• Backup and Recovery
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies.
  • Conduct regular system backups and test restoration procedures.
• Troubleshooting and Support
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Oracle Linux-related issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex problems.
• Performance Optimization
  • Analyze system performance and recommend improvements for optimal efficiency.
  • Implement performance tuning strategies to enhance overall system responsiveness.
• Documentation
  • Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Required Qualifications:

• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Proven experience as an Oracle Linux Administrator or similar role.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as Oracle VM or VMware.
• In-depth knowledge of Oracle Linux, kernel tuning, and system optimization.
• Oracle Linux certification is highly desirable.
• Additional certifications such as RHCE or OCP would be a plus.

Education Requirement:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
