Job description

Teleworking employees may be required to report to their headquarters office location on designated telework days. Travel expenses are not reimbursed, however other authorized transit subsidies do exist for those who qualify.
Under general direction of the Information Technology Manager I (ITM II), the Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) acts as the Lead Oracle Database Administrator (Oracle DBA) within the software engineering, system engineering, and information security engineering domains. The individual acts as a subject matter expert in the design, implementation, performance, and support of California Department of Insurances (CDI) Oracle DB systems and resources, including optimal network, storage, compute, and security components. Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and managing Oracle DB systems; works with team members to ensure that the associated resources are allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability, security, and optimum performance.

Working Conditions

  • Eligible for telework in accordance with CDIs Telework policy .
  • Must be able to work in a high-rise building.
  • Ability to transport documents and/or equipment up to 15-25 lbs., i.e. laptop computer, files, reference manuals, solicitation documents, etc.

Please describe your years of experience as an Oracle DBA, your approach to security and backups, tools you have used, and any projects that showcases your skills and effectiveness as an Oracle DBA. Have you ever had to recover from a corrupted or lost database? What was your process to recover? Use the desirable qualifications in the job posting as a guide.
