Form of workThe Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) at Marshall B. Ketchum University (MBKU) is seeking applicants for part-time faculty positions to provide clinical education at the University Eye Center of Los Angeles (UECLA) 4th year externship site. We are looking for a candidate who can offer expertise in any the following areas: Vision Therapy, Ocular Disease and Specialty Contact Lens.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESQualified candidates would be expected to teach and mentor students in the OD program during their 4th year rotation. This position is for clinical teaching, in which you will supervise four to five 4th year interns while in clinic seeing patients. You will be responsible for ensuring proper patient care and a sound educational experience (including completing evaluations and providing regular feedback to the students). Part-time positions will be considered at 1-2 days a week. Spanish fluency is highly desired, although translators are available during clinic shifts (on a limited basis) should a doctor’s Spanish skills be more limited.
The UECLA clinic proudly serves a predominantly underprivileged population in South Central Los Angeles. We are a fast-paced, high complexity practice and offer several specialty services to those in need. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, energetic and passionate about providing care and teaching in this environment.
Candidates must have an OD degree and be eligible for a California optometry license. Preference will be given to applicants with an advanced degree, residency/fellowship training, and/or advanced
professional development.
