No matter where you are or how you express yourself, it’s always the fastest way to share a moment! We’re looking for an Optical Test Engineer to join the Snap Lab Team at Snap Inc!
What you’ll do:
- Perform Image and data processing
- Create visualization (i.e. plotting)
- Contribute and maintain Optical Testing python code in a shared repository
- Debugging, problem solving and root cause analysis of optical quality issues
- Perform photometric/radiometric measurement and analysis
- Write test cases in Python for our hardware, running them on the devices and evaluating the results
- Deploy test station hardware and software to factory/manufacturing environments
- International Travel up to 15%
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Proficiency working in a Microsoft Windows computing environment
- Proficiency with cloud based office software (Google Workspace, MS 365)
- Strong geometrical optics fundamentals
- Experience in an optical engineering laboratory environment
- Experience with the handling/cleaning of optical elements
- Experience with optical metrology
- Experience with optical benchtop assembly and testing
- Experience with colorimetry and radiometry
- Experience Git/GitHub in a collaborative software development environment
- Software development in Python of data acquisition, analysis and instrument control
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Optics, Physics or equivalent years of experience
- 3+ years of experience in Optical Testing or optical related work
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of manufacturing environments and processes
- Experience with Agile environments and issue tracking software (e.g. Jira, Asana)
- Rapid prototyping and 3D printing of test fixtures and mechanical supports and components
- Experience with Display image quality evaluation, quality metrics and algorithim processing (white balance, color correction, geometric correction, etc.)
- Factory tuning, calibration, and display setting adjustment

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
