- Be part of the team which is developing Comcast's Universal Access Architecture, which is reshaping the network to seamlessly integrate PON, DOCSIS and future network technologies into a cohesive structure including the back office, tools, access network layer and CPE to build the most cost effective network and best customer experience.
- Responsible for architecting cutting edge access network solutions, innovating, and integrating access network technologies across multiple disciplines, all lines of business and constantly seeking to improve the network performance and quality of experience of subscribers.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and software engineers to provide system integration and validation to the network. Contribute expertise to architecting, developing PoC and verification of solutions in lab and field deployments.

Bring your knowledge, motivation and eagerness to learn to support the Connect optics development activities in a very fast-paced environment. Main activities include different aspects of product development cycle including product requirement definition, development, component testing, system integration/testing, product trials and deployment. The candidate is accountable for supporting optics developments in the transport, metro Ethernet, and access networks. Knowledge in optics, pluggable optics, optics integration, optical test equipment, monitoring tools, IP & Ethernet, analytics is highly desired but can be learned on the job.
Responsibilities
· Manage lab activities including planning development tests, acquiring test equipment, consumables materials, running tests, writing test reports, working with the optics team and strategic partners to evaluate, troubleshoot, and further improve or develop new products.
· Developing and documenting the processes and procedures to evaluate optical components, modules, and systems.
· Set-up of evaluation platforms, switches, routers, etc. leveraging knowledge in networking (IP and Ethernet)
· Work with different parts of the organization to plan, develop, and support multiple concurrent projects from conception through development and trials, to general availability across Comcast.
· Strong initiative to build relationships both internally and externally with minimal supervision/direction from management.
· Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
· Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills & Requirements:
· Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
· 5+ years working in optical components and/or optics telecommunications systems
· Expertise in SFP, QSFP, CFP2, PON, FTTX, Ethernet optical transceivers to 100 Gbps
· Optical passives, splitters, couplers, isolators, filters (DWDM, CWDM)
· Well versed in Broadband, RF and optical lab and field test and measurement equipment and techniques
· Optical measurements including wavelength, spectrum analysis, OSNR and OTDR
· Experience with ethernet communication systems, protocols, switches, routers.
