L.O. Eye Care is seeking a full time Optical Manager. The Optical Manager plans, organizes, leads, and monitors the optical functions of the business, which includes retail operations, the optical and contact lens departments, and inventory management.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This role oversees department or location specific accountabilities. Is responsible for daily, weekly, monthly and other objectives and performance outcomes.
Essential functions

- Selects, trains/orients, and supervises assigned staff
- Develops, delivers, and maintains employee training and resources used during training and coaching.
- Schedules assigned personnel as needed to cover dispensing function for the offices.
- Travels frequently between satellite offices to perform essential management functions.
- Performs a wide variety of optical patient care activities and services.
- Handles customer complaints and refunds.
- Assists in care and upkeep of department equipment and supplies.
- Maintains knowledge of lens products.
- Maintains knowledge of and complies with established policies and procedures.
- Performance management: Evaluates assigned staff; implements company practices regarding performance appraisal system and compensation increases. Coaches employees and counsels as necessary, up to and including termination of employment.
- Answers questions and aids physicians and technicians in finding solutions for eyewear problems.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.

Physical demands/potential hazards
- Must be able to walk, stand, and move around for the majority of the day; may be required to lift equipment up to 50 pounds and assist patients with physical mobility
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods, must be able to use eyes, hands, and body to maintain office dexterity and mobility; may be required to lift typical office equipment up to 20 pounds
- May be exposed to bodily fluids, including blood, such as typical in a medical office environment
Travel required
- 50%-75% travel required.
Education and experience
Educational requirements that are job-related and consistent with business necessity
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
- Some college preferred.
- One to three years of optical experience required
- ABO Certification preferred
