Optical Lab Engineer

Title: Optical Lab Engineer
Location: Redmond, WA
Duration: 1 year contract + 1 year extension
 
Must-haves 
Skills 
Experience with building, maintaining an operating precision, Optical Lab systems, such as Lasers LEDs, optics, fiber, optics, electronics, and mechanical subassemblies 
Background and designing and running experiments with precision optical set ups 
Experience with process design, an interactive development, including data acquisition in an 
Ability to communicate, highly technical information to and collaborate with a diverse cross functional team 
Safety conscious. Proactive in establishing a safe working environment for themselves and others 

Experience level 
>3 years work experience. 5 preferred. 

Knowledge: 
Optical system design in alignment 
Design experiments 
La personnel and hardware safety -- lasers, ESD, automation, etc. 
Data analysis using python or Matlab 

Plusses 
Bonus: familiarity with solid works or Zmax 
Bonus: holographic exposure/ Interferometry experience 

Day-to-Day 
Work in cross functional teams with multiple disciplines (optical mechanical, electrical, firmware, etc.) to operate and maintain lab tools and develop processes for the fabrication and measurement of novel optical elements.
