Ophthalmic Technician
Energetic technician team is recruiting new members for an extremely busy medical practice. GREAT for a recent high school or college graduate looking to start a career!! Experience is not required, but enthusiasm and willingness to learn is a must. Full time position requiring at least 40 hours per week. Must have reliable transportation to multiple locations. Job requires endurance for extensive standing, walking, bending, reaching and moderate to heavy lifting. Responsible for the efficient, friendly process of assisting patients through the course of eye examination and treatment. Preforms all areas of history taking, patient ‘work up’ (including but not limited to: checking vision, intraocular pressure, blood pressure and instilling eye drops), diagnostic testing as competency level allows; provides patient education per doctors’ instructions; monitors/maintains exam rooms; handles pharmacy calls and returns patient calls per protocols. Overall support of patient safety, clinic efficiency, and a positive patient experience through various assignments including maintenance and upkeep of equipment, stocking exam lanes and support of clinical staff.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills for communication with patients, family members, referring offices, coworkers and physicians.
Ability to provide patients with utmost respect and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work independently, yet cooperatively with the entire team.
Ability to accurately take notes and follow ordering instructions per doctor’s instructions.
Knowledge of ocular anatomy and common eye diseases for which diagnostic testing is preformed is encouraged, but not required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Compassionate and empathetic personality with a willingness to assist patients and staff in a caring and respectful manner.
Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times, and maintain a professional appearance by adhering to all company policies.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.50 - $22.00 per hour
