Job Title:Ophthalmic Diagnostic Imaging Specialist II
Department: Ophth Clinical Support SEI
Location: Penn Presbyterian Medical Center - 51 N 39th Street
Hours: Full timer regular
Summary:

  • Under the supervision of the Ophthalmology Imaging Leadership, the Ophthalmic Diagnostic Imaging Specialist II is responsible for performing and coordinating a wide range of patient testing services. The primary purpose of this position is to provide a variety of tests in order to aid physicians in the documentation, diagnosis, tracking, and treatment of eye conditions.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform Diagnostic Imaging, which may include corneal topography, optical coherence tomography, color and monochromatic fundus photography, scanning laser ophthalmoscopy, fundus autofluorescence, retinal screening, fluorescein and/or indocyanine-green angiography, slit lamp biomicrography, goniography, specular microscopy, external eye photography, ocular surface interferometry, intraocular lens calculations, a-scan biometry, diagnostic b-scan ultrasonography, ultrasound biomicroscopy, and additional tests such as visual field exams, electrophysiology, color vision and dark adaptation testing.
  • Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform study imaging per protocol, which may require completion of additional research certifications and secure document transfer to reading centers.
  • Prepare rooms, maintaining cleanliness of testing areas.
  • Explain procedure details to patients, appropriately responding to questions and concerns.
  • Assist patients through procedures, ensuring secure and proper positioning for testing.
  • Confirm testing result availability through picture archiving and communication system, documenting procedure details within electronic medical record.
  • Identify equipment malfunction and quality issues, communicating problems to manager and technical support personnel.
  • Attend educational conferences and meetings to upkeep clinical certification(s), and to continually remain updated on current information in the field of Ophthalmic Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Train and review competency of coworkers, including ophthalmic technicians and Ophthalmic Diagnostic Imaging Specialists.
  • May submit images for Scientific Exhibition
Credentials:
  • CDOS or CRA or OCT-C or ROUB (Required)
  • OCT-C or ROUB or CRA or CDOS
  • COA, COT, COMT
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • And 2+ years 2 years or more of work experience in ophthalmic imaging
