Exciting opportunity to join a fun, fast-paced surgical eye clinic in Eugene, Oregon. We are looking for an energetic, motivated Ophthalmic Assistant, Technician and/or Scribe to join our team. All applicants must have excellent communication and customer service skills, be attentive and precise. The goal of an Ophthalmic Technician is to help make a patient's experience as relaxed and comfortable as possible while working quickly and efficiently. Keeping a calm and poised demeanor, while being able to juggle many tasks simultaneously, is a must.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Paper chart & EHR experience a big plus.
- Knowledge of medical instrumentation and its proper care and usage needed within the field of Ophthalmology
- Knowledge of medical intake & exam documentation with paper charts
- COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) or COT (Certified Ophthalmic Technician) strongly preferred
- Priority given to candidates with ophthalmic technician and scribing experience!

- Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms and ocular medications.
- Has knowledge of contact lenses.
- Utilizes proper eye drop technique and sterility.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Promptly and professionally provide direct care to 2-3 patients per hour.
- Must be willing to help in all areas and understand the need for efficient use of time.
- Assist doctors when needed.
- Performing technical workups and special testing.
- Returning phone calls to patients and pharmacies in a timely manner.
- Respond to refill requests
- Schedule and confirm appointments as needed
- Maintain and clean equipment and exam rooms.
- Efficiently and accurately interview patients and document histories.
- Accurately perform (Technician components of exam, Tonometry, Refractions, Diagnostic Testing (OCT’s, Visual Fields, Fundus Photos, Lenstar/IOL Master, Topography),
- Other duties as assigned by management and/or physicians
