Purpose:
Operational Excellence Technician will assist the Operational Excellence leadership to apply the Lean principles, methods, tools, and problem solving in a culture of daily continuous improvement.
Position Description

  • OpEx Technician performs its assignments under limited supervision.
  • OpEx Technician assists to Operational Excellence Manager and or OpEx change agent to implement, sustain, and improve the methods, tools and standards of the Lean System in all sections of the value streams.
  • This role has a focus on Doing / implementing, whether in Source, Make or Deliver sections of the Value Streams.
  • Able to coordinate and implement improvements at shopfloor level and sustain the positive results.
  • Prepare and provide trainings as required.
  • Support the need of collecting and organizing key information for different process, e.g. Daily management, 5S evaluations, standardized work, etc.

Essential Job Functions
  • Participate in the development, coordination and implementation of Lean initiatives (as required).
  • Provide action to implement improvements, this may include training, teaching, construction of racks, installing devices for visual management, marking / labeling areas acc 5S and visual standards, relocating parts, lifting, and any other activities to meet the primary function of this role.
  • Understanding of Value Streams processes and metrics, to detect opportunities for improvements.
  • Participate/lead local teams, to improve site conditions, in Safety, Productivity, Quality, and Cost.
  • Training/coaching to front line staff (shopfloor direct and / or indirect staff) as required, in topics such as: workplace organization, standardized work, material flow, andon system, and others from Lean model.
  • Creation of visual aids, forms, data collection sheets, electronic manipulation of data collected from shopfloor processes (e.g. Cycle times, events, quality info, down times, inefficiencies, etc)
  • Process analysis: Operations time studies, Bottle neck elimination, Line Balancing.
  • Able to create Standardized work documents: Standardized work sequence, stations layout, operations balance chart, visual aids.
  • Collaborating within OpEx department, with Production Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers and warehouse supervisors (or other departments if required) to resolve any issues that arise during implementation and sustainability of any initiative / improvement.
  • Lead the planning and execution of Rapid Improvement Events or Just Do-It to eliminate waste from processes resulting in improved productivity.
  • Perform other functions as assigned.

Education, Experience & Skills
  • Associates or Bachelor of Science degree or related discipline preferred (Equivalent education / training / or experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Skilled to work with the hands, manipulating manual and power tools to create, modify and improve devices that reduce waste and improve the productivity.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a Lean environment, implementing Lean principles and continuous improvement-based tools and techniques required (e.g. 5S, standardized work, Lean line concept, FIFO systems, Kanban system, supermarket system, Work Instructions creation, Time studies and process analysis, milk run definition, others.)

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in Production, Quality, Continuous improvement, or manufacturing roles are preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office tools: Excel, Power Point, Word, Visio.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Times and Methods analysis.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of AutoCad.
