As a Furnace Operator, you'll operate, program and control furnaces (vacuum, atmosphere) for heat treating and brazing of parts.
What you'll do:
- Inspects incoming parts and reviews process instructions.
- Performs mechanical cleaning of parts such as stainless steel grit blasting and glass beading.
- Prepares and mixes brazing filler metal mixtures according to specifications.
- Applies braze filler metals to parts.
- Operates, programs and controls furnaces (vacuum, atmosphere) for heat treating and brazing of parts. Utilizes thermocouples and dewpoint meters to aid in temperature and gas quality measurements.
- Inspects parts after unloading the furnace and ensures appropriate documentation is kept.
- Checks and inspects furnace equipment and working area.
- Participates in continuous improvement of cell operations.
- Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
- Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
- Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
- Carries out other duties as assigned.
The skills you will use:
- Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.
- Knowledgeable and proficient in the proper use of precision measuring equipment.
- Basic understanding of the mechanical/electrical operating system of a furnace.
- Thorough knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Working knowledge of material safety data sheets and the handling of hazardous materials/chemicals.
- Thorough knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, temporary overhaul data revisions, reworks process instructions and original equipment manufacturer manuals
- Must be an U.S. Citizen
