About Our Opportunity

We are seeking an Operations Project Manager – to work in the Blairs, Virginia warehouse. The Operations Project Manager directly manages all aspects of any special projects assigned in the VA locations distribution centers across all shifts. These responsibilities include the operation of the Candy Room, Reclamation, full facility AIB duties, and any special projects. It is anticipated that, in performing the assigned duties, the Special Projects Manager will manage a customarily recognized department of the Company, while customarily and regularly directing the work of at least two or more exempt employees and their direct reports.


Responsibilities

  • Oversees all aspects of operations and personnel, in the Candy Room, Reclamation, AIB, and any other special projects as they occur, across multiple shifts.
  • Utilizes and reviews inventory from JDE and WMS system to fulfill requirements for maintaining work orders and candy and toy inventory.
  • Utilizes Shop floor Workbench in JDE to create, post, and edit work orders
  • Interacts with all departments in the warehouse to understand issues and assess needs to improve the consistency and integrity of processes.
  • Leads and assembles qualified teams to work on assigned projects. Creates project plans, goals, and milestones. Sees projects through successful completion.
  • Creates, tracks, monitors, and reports Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Oversees daily management and supervision of the departmental workforce including providing training and direction, setting deadlines, and resolving problems. Administers corrective action according to company guidelines.
  • Orders and maintains sufficient quantities of consumable items to assure a smooth flow in daily operations.
  • Studies department workload and estimates manpower requirements. Establishes and adjusts manpower assignments to meet production goals.
  • Works with Human Resources to interview, select, and train employees to fill vacant positions.
  • Annually prepares performance evaluations for departmental staff.
  • Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills. Stays current with developments within the manufacturing and distribution field and shares expertise with others.
  • Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others, and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Ensures daily reports are submitted as appropriate.
  • Participates and prepares for all meetings as required
  • A commitment to companywide quality and safety is required.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

    • Ability to communicate with management, colleagues, line staff, and individuals outside the company to meet departmental goals.
    • Strong analytical skills with a methodological approach to problem-solving and implementation.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas, and/or facts and recommendations effectively.
    • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets related documents.
    • Strong computer skills including proficiency in WMS, and JDE; advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
    • Ability to manage groups through project implementation.
    • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
    • Ability to work independently with little direction.
    • High school diploma or its equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • 5 years of experience in a distribution/manufacturing environment required.
    • Experience with an automated pick and storage system is preferred.
    • Previous management experience required.
