Job description

Oversee installation of an NHL quality ice sheet to include preparation and painting of all ice logos. Maintain to a high level a clean and organized work area and all building equipment. Operate and maintain the ice-resurface (Zamboni) and ice-edger. Maintain glass and dasher boards. Monitor temperature and humidity levels. Oversee and direct employees who assist with installation and maintenance of ice. Assists with requests for day of event needs from client and management for both hockey games and other events. Assist with general related maintenance of the building. Hires and trains staff in specifics of the responsibilities and expectations and works with staff to develop and maintain service-oriented attitudes.
Responsible for verifying and coding Time Clock punches for department's employees. Schedules the work shifts of the employees to ensure proper coverage of all event requirements. Ensure adherence to safety codes/laws.
Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Pay Rate: Salary $67,725.00 to start
SUMMARY:
ASM Global/SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for an Operations Manager specializing in the maintenance of the ice at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, WA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

WORKING CONDTIONS
Physical requirements include the ability to communicate verbally, walk, climb, kneel, move around facility, and lift at least 80 lbs. Subject to adverse weather, and working conditions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Possess any licenses, certificates or training required by local, state or national authorities for the operation of the equipment found in the facility.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the practice and procedures related to ice installation, preparation and maintenance; typical methods and techniques for maintaining, repairing and building ice; and treatment of water and hydraulic equipment.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.
  • Follow and adhere to all safety precautions, rules, regulations, risk management and emergency procedures.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or G.E.D. and at least three (3) years of ice floor and operations experience preferably in a WHL or similar facility. Completion of accredited courses from an ice making technology school is considered a strong plus.
