POSITION: Operations Manager, Retail
JOB LOCATION: Mount Madonna Center - 445 Summit Road, Watsonville, CA, 95076
Reports to: Operations Director
JOB SUMMARY:
We have an immediate opening for an Operations Manager, Retail, who will serve in a leadership role for Mount Madonna Center’s Central operations, including our 4 retail spaces. The Operations team is a dynamic, foundational part of the Center, and the Operations Manager, Retail serves as both a logistical systems-thinker, as well as an motivational on-the-ground leader for the Center’s staff.
The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, is self-directed, extremely well organized, and loves to problem-solve, coordinate, and create sustainable systems. This position requires a wealth of creativity and adaptability, as well as strong interpersonal skills. The Center’s staffing structure is multifaceted, and includes residential and non-residential employees, as well as volunteers, so the ideal candidate will be able to work successfully within a dynamic environment. Mount Madonna Center is in a period of transition and immense growth - we are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a startup mentality and large capacity to bring our mission forward.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Management and oversight of all retail spaces (currently Ayurveda World, Anjaneya’s World Cafe, Kaya Kalpa Wellness Center & Hot Tub, Oceanview Bookstore)
- Oversight of the Gatehouse and IT areas.
- Providing leadership as an interim Area Lead when there is a gap of leadership.
- Working with the Operations Director to connect overarching organizational goals with operational processes.
- Financial Planning & Business Analysis
- Business Plans/Budget creation/Analysis for retail spaces
- Analysis of staff hours, baseline functioning, and other operational inputs
- Providing accurate information to Operations Director to support executive decision-making
- Maintain a working knowledge of all HRD processes and policies, and intimate knowledge of staffing strategies.
Key skills, experience, and requirements:
- Computer skills: Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, and Word. Familiarity with Monday.com is a plus. The ability to adapt to custom software.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written), as well as the ability to negotiate.
- Time Management & Organization skills: Exceptional attention to detail and organization skills. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to effectively manage numerous concurrent projects. Hands-on approach to project management with a strong bias for action.
- Interpersonal skills: Ability to mentor, support, and develop current staff, as well as the ability to interview incoming staff.
- Works well with others and ability to work cross functionally. The role requires working with all other directors and the leadership team.
- Minimum of 3 years experience with operations, logistics, account management or related experience in a fast-paced environment.

JOB TYPE: Full-time (32-35 hours/week)
RATE OF PAY: $22 - 27/hr, depending on experience.
Residential Position Available:
This position offers the opportunity to reside in a yoga community in beautiful natural surroundings. We prefer to hire an off land staff member, but are accepting all applications. Residential housing and all meals are included in an affordable monthly fee. Those interested in joining our multigenerational residential community would be open to living in an intentional yoga community and engaging with others in a positive way. We ask everyone to abide by the vegetarian guidelines while on the property. More details about the residential agreement will be provided during the interview.
