This is a full-time, permanent Program Specialist 3 (PS3) position.

We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Operations Coordinator (PS3) to become an integral part of our team. As a Program Specialist 3 (PS3), you will play a crucial role in managing, executing, and evaluating multiple operational functions of the Washington State Board of Nursing (WABON), You'll be the primary consultant to WABON members, pro tem members, and WABON Unit managers, providing invaluable expertise and guidance.
Your Role:
As a PS3, you will thrive in a challenging and rewarding environment. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Planning, executing, analyzing, and evaluating current WABON administrative and operational processes, formulating recommendations for improvement, initiating change management, and implementing strategic and long-range goals.
  • Providing professional and technical advice to management, commission members, pro tem members, and staff regarding multi-dimensional issues impacting diverse departments, programs, policies, organizations, and/or jurisdictions.
  • Serving as liaison with the Governor's office for WABON board appointments.

The Washinton State Board of Nursing (WABON) protects the public's health and safety by regulating the competency and quality of licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, advanced registered nurse practitioners, and nursing technicians. The purpose of the WABON includes establishing, monitoring, and enforcing licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms, and discipline.
The duty station for this position is in Tumwater, WA. Telework (mobile work) is currently expected. When approved, the incumbent is expected to report to the duty station for work activities. Partial telecommuting may be an option subject to supervisory approval. We anticipate the incumbent will work at the Tumwater office twice a month on average (though this can vary significantly throughout the year. This would need to be a conversation between the hiring supervisor and the incumbent.

Required Qualifications
Note: Experience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.
  • Option 1: Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible duties in a health services program or a project management program.

  • Option 2: A bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, public administration, law, public health, health administration, or a related field.

AND,
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in the following:
    • Leading small to medium-sized projects that impact multiple programs, departments, and/or jurisdictions by employing project management methodologies to motivate diverse groups towards accomplishing a common goal.
    • Using quality assurance and process improvement methodologies such as LEAN.
    • Managing administrative databases: collecting data, analyzing data, interpreting data and creating standard and ad hoc reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in the following:
    • Working in a complex organizational structure involving responsibilities such as facilitating collaboration, coordinating efforts, and communicating effectively with fellow team members and external partners.
    • Delivering technical training on software applications, enabling users to effectively read, edit, and create documents across a spectrum of hardware devices (desktops, laptops, mobile devices), including but not limited to:
      • Adobe Reader, Professional, and Editor.
      • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
      • SharePoint.
      • Password protection and access to secured and unsecured sites.
      • GoTo Meeting or other webinar-enhanced meeting software.

Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of courses or certifications in project management, such as Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, OR other similar courses.
  • One (1) or more years of experience preparing and monitoring budget expenses.
  • Completion of courses or certifications in quality improvement, such as LEAN, Six Sigma, etc.

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
