JOB SUMMARY:
To ensure delivery of efficient, caring service pertinent to individual needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients; commitment to providing highest quality of care.
Coordinates and supervises directly and indirectly all functions relative to the operation and maintenance of the surgical suites and Sterile Processing Department. Supervises and coordinates activities of personnel in the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the operating room
- CNOR preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Daily supervises all nursing and ancillary support personnel involved in Operating Room & SPD.
- Assists in establishing policy and standards for nursing care and practice.
- Communicates closely with Scheduling department regarding surgery schedule. Checks draft of each operating schedule in advance and makes necessary corrections.
- Assists OR Manager in to reviewing and revising current facility policies and procedures.
- Interviews candidates for Peri-Operative departments.
- Assist OR Manager in Collaboration to develop and monitor orientation of new staff.
- Assists Education Department with applicable in-service programs and coordinates schedule of staff meetings with OR Manager.
- Evaluates the knowledge skill levels of the surgery staff. Able to provide feedback and guidance when necessary with approvals of OR manager.
- Coordinates, assigns, and/or provides relief coverage according to needs of the operating room areas. Substantiates all overtime hours and productivity variances to the OR Manager.
- Coordinates with OR Manager vacation and time off schedules for supervised personnel.
- Monitors licensure of professional nursing personnel and CPR status of supervised personnel and provides adequate copies of licensure for personnel folders.
- Assists OR Manager with annual evaluations and monitors job performance of operating, room nursing staff and ancillary staff to confirm compliance with policies and personal protection.
- Affords efficient flow of procedures by monitoring surgeon availability, on time arrival, and informing surgeons of any delays.
- Reports broken equipment in a timely fashion to Central Supply department.
- Assists with Inventory for Central Supply.
- Monitors ordering of supplies and provides requests with appropriate documentation of need for capital equipment to the OR Manager.
- Assures that all physicians are treated appropriately. Maintains constant communication with the surgeons and determines if their needs are being met.
- Assures emergency equipment and supplies are on hand and ready for use.
- Monitors recalls and backorders that pertain to unit that are provided from Central Supply.
- Assists the manager with data collection and evaluation systems to improve employee safety management.
- Manages an ongoing Organization-wide process to collect, document and evaluate information about potential hazards to employee safety.
- Participates in hazard surveillance and incident reporting on a regular basis.
- Audits employee activity for compliance with OSHA related employee safety plan
- Investigates, with the Infection control and Occupational Health representative, all incidents that involve occupational illness or injury and submits necessary reports to State agencies.
- Develops a method for continual review and assessment of the employee safety management plan.
- Demonstrates alignment with leadership regarding strategic goals and vision.
