Researches, analyzes, evaluates, and assists with ongoing data analysis and data needs within the Surgical Services Service Line. Gathers and interprets data from a variety of databases to help the network make operational business decisions that will result in positive financial and clinical outcomes.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyzes large complex files for transformation and customization of raw data into useful finished products
- Researches, validates, analyzes, and produces actionable data that is accurate and easily understood by the requestor
- Works with Surgical Services leadership and administrative leaders in professional and business departments to compile, organize, display, and provide useful operational and financial data in support of operational needs
- Works closely with Financial Management, Cost Accounting, Medical Records, Revenue Management, Pharmacy, Business Offices, and Service Line Administrators to find opportunities that will result in surgical cost reduction and/or increased insurance reimbursements while maintaining high quality patient care
- Provides input to Materials Management that identifies pricing opportunities and cost savings relative to specific surgical procedures and surgeons
- Provides requesters with an accurate understanding of financial, clinical, and operational data relative to Surgical Services, identifying appropriate sources for strategic planning, business development, and physician activity
- Understands all available reports and analytical tools to provide financial analysis, reviews, and presentations to other business partners and senior leadership
- Has a working knowledge of medical coding, health insurance requirements and reimbursement, and materials management practices
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Four years of job-related experience in the healthcare industry required. Familiarity with the day to day functions and processes in the Operating Rooms, as well as a robust understanding of how ongoing operational decisions affect finances in a healthcare environment preferred. Must be skilled in TEAMS, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat. Must have high level Excel skills.
Must be proficient in using and running reports in the following databases: EPIC, the STRATAJAZZ financial database, ALLSCRIPTS Supply Chain Management, Tableau, and Medapproved.
Additional web based databases used are: Codecorrect, Epic User Web, and Premier Supply Chain.
Must be able to anticipate the needs of the stakeholder with limited guidance. Must have strong written and oral communication skills required for frequent interaction with physicians, administration, and teammates.
