Responsibilities
Position Summary
As our Oncology Nurse Navigator, you’ll play an integral role in the team by guiding guide patients through each step of their comprehensive cancer care journey. You’ll provide physical and emotional support to patients utilizing services like radiation oncology, medical oncology, and palliative care.
Each day you will advocate for patients and their families by (proactively) identifying and addressing any barriers. You’ll also ensure they have access to and understanding of all available resources allowing them to make informed decisions as their needs change and evolve. You’ll also be their friend and cheerleader- someone they trust to guide them and who also celebrates their progress.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain a current Registered Nurse license with the state of California.
- Must possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
- Three (3) years of recent clinical experience in Oncology.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in nursing education healthcare community health or related field.
- Excellent communication skills written and oral; able to adjust to variable audiences and levels of education.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others across all departments.
- Serves as a liaison to community organizations to articulate the mission of the Mercy Medical Center Cancer Center and our core values.
- Ability to identify patient/family needs and then to coordinate and deploy resources to effectively match those needs. Ability to work on multiple projects at one time. Works under the direction of the standards established by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Requires minimal supervision able to work independent
