A vision turned reality, Madrona Recovery prides itself on resiliency and trauma informed care. Our youth residential mental health and addiction center is a beautiful new 23 bed, intensive short-term facility located in Tigard, Oregon.
Our programming is centered around skill building in emotional regulation, resiliency, and conflict resolution, with a framework built for long-term recovery. We base our culture on three simple components; safety, recovery, and personal growth. Our goal in the present is to help heal from the past to lay the path for a better future.

POSITION SUMMARY:
- Our Wellness Counselors work on the front line with youth dealing with mental health, trauma, and addiction in a residential facility.
- Using your passion and ability you will be building a therapeutic rapport and modeling prosocial engagements.
- Our Wellness Counselors arguably hold the most influential role in the program by spending a significant amount time with the kids, modeling what daily life looks like in a supportive and healthy environment
- As a Wellness Counselor you will be attending groups, eating meals, and spending rec time with the kids.
- With a strong and healthy rapport, youth may connect with you and share their life experiences while looking for meaningful and productive insight. This is when Wellness Counselors earn endless opportunity to genuinely impact the life of a young person who's in need.
- You'll be entrusted to participate in each youths therapeutic treatment plan as well as keep thorough and accurate documentation.
- Night shift Wellness is primarily entrusted with the responsibility of the safety and welfare of our Residential Youth
- You may be assigned to work under direct supervision or independently
- You’ll learn to adjust strategies and interventions based on individual clients needs
The Wellness Department is the heart of Madrona Recovery. We care for the kids 24 hours a day and balance safety with prosocial engagements. We have the most influence, offer the biggest amount of support, and have the opportunity to build the strongest rapport with kids.
This exciting role also provides the opportunity for ongoing trainings in fundamental areas such as communication skills, mental health, crisis intervention, addiction and recovery, and many more that are essential for any career in Social Services!
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a behavioral health related field is preferred, and compensation is adjusted to reflect education.
- At least one year supporting adolescents with emotional, behavioral, and substance abuse issues.
- Residential treatment or hospital setting is a plus, and compensation is adjusted to reflect applicable experience.
- Personality types that are empathetic, caring, reliable, resilient, and trustworthy best fit this role.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Drug Screening
- Criminal background check (conviction of violent crime or crime involving youth is an immediate disqualifier)
- Documented Abstinence under independent living conditions for a minimum of 2 years. (If part of the recovery community)
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Reliable, and thrives working in a team environment
Pay: $18.00/hr base for high school diploma and no experience. Hourly rate adjusted for education and relevant experience.
On Call Guidelines:
Must be able to complete 40 hours of on-site training and stay up to date on all annual training requirements.
No hours will be given to on-call staff. Each week the on-call pool will be emailed the available shifts and can pick up the shifts they would like to work.
3 shifts per quarter is mandatory—if an on-call staff does not work three shifts per quarter they are removed from the pool.
If an on-call staff picks up a shift and then calls off that shift, they are removed from the pool.
On-call must work 3 holidays per year. If on-call staff cannot/will not work holidays, they will be removed from the pool.
No more than 24 hours/week can be scheduled. This is to allow for times when a staff member might be required to stay late, while still keeping them from accidentally skewing into full-time
All training and on-boarding must be completed prior to on-call staff taking their first shift

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
