THIS POSITION IS ON-CALL/RELIEF/AS NEEDED
Shifts Needing Coverage Include:
Monday - Sunday: 2p-12a & 11p-9a
Saturday - Sunday: 8a-4p
On-Call Resident Advisors report directly to the Program Manager and are responsible for the wellbeing of the residents in the program during their respective shift(s). The Resident Advisor supervises resident activities, interacts with residents and staff in a positive and courteous manner, and ensures a safe environment for the residents at the facility. The individual in this position will be evaluated on his/her skills and conduct as they apply to the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Agency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. 1+ years’ experience working with those suffering from homelessness and/or housing insecurities; or experience in a similar setting or with a similar resident population.
3. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
4. Excellent communication and written skills
5. Ability to assess emergency situations and respond effectively.
6. Ability to exercise appropriate authority when needed. Sound judgment. Ability to uphold program and personnel policies and procedures.
7. Bilingual strongly preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
A. Administrative
1. Under the direction of the Family Housing Manager, Resident Advisors are responsible for implementing the Agency’s philosophy, policies, and procedures.
2. Responsible for maintaining all residential log binders with current, real time information.
3. Report and properly file incident reports in hard file as well as in online database system.
4. Update database record of daily intakes and exits, changes in bed assignments, and other information.
5. Complete necessary paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
B. Program
1. Assist with identification of and facilitation of housing maintenance needs including arranging the cleaning of the units as needed
2. Assure that residents maintain their housing units in a safe and healthy condition
3. Help secure the premises and account for current residents multiple times during their shift on a specific schedule
4. Ensure communication between shifts and during shift regarding day-to-day site operations
5. Supervise resident activities in the common areas to ensure safety
6. Assist residents in navigating and abiding by their “house rules”
7. Provide advocacy and assistance for residents during rules violation, and assist residents with identifying needed behavioral changes
8. Conduct nightly wellness checks and document accordingly
9. Document any resident issues in the designated database, maintain overnight reports, and document all incidents
10. Ability to use de-escalation techniques to assist residents in maintaining adherence to site guidelines
11. Contact appropriate staff via e-mail if needed to report issues and/or incidents to ensure all staff supporting this client have updated information
12. Maintain accurate resident records and logs, and assist with accurate daily/nightly and monthly reports of the residents’ presence on site for reporting purposes
13. Upon learning of personal health and welfare needs of the residents, encourage residents to seek any needed assistance from their primary case managers
14. Provide appropriate crisis intervention to residents which can include: support and/or problem solving, meeting immediate needs if possible, ensuring resident safety by calling for 911 services or immediate psychiatric services when needed
15. Check e-mail at the beginning and end of each shift, and respond to emails as needed
16. Ensure that all meal-related duties are completed in preparation for the morning shift
17. Provide basic cleaning of common areas as needed
18. Report building or equipment problems, safety hazards, security concerns, etc., to the appropriate administrative staff
19. Participate in job related training events and attend staff meetings as required by supervisor
20. Receive occasional phone calls or texts from supervisor on a limited basis when off duty regarding schedule changes
21. Other duties as assigned.
22. Build and maintain healthy, productive professional relationships with residents. Set and observe appropriate boundaries; safeguard client confidentiality.

Pay: $21.00 per hour
