OLCC Material Handling Specialist

COMPANY AND LOCATION

East Fork Cultivars is a farm-focused cannabis and hemp company, with headquarters in the picturesque Illinois River Valley in Takilma, Oregon, and a satellite office in Portland, Oregon. Founded in 2015, East Fork strives to develop and preserve sustainable, sun-grown farming methods in order to produce high-quality, genetically diverse, CBD-rich cultivars while maintaining a resolute commitment to environmental responsibility, science-based education, and social justice. East Fork is seeking a talented, passionate and self-directed OLCC Material Handling Specialist to join our team. This is an on-site position located in Takilma.

POSITION SUMMARY

The OLCC Material Handling Specialist is a core member of the Flower Team. The Flower Team is responsible for all handling of hemp and OLCC native plant material from harvest to trimmed flower. This includes participating in plant out, harvest, destemming, grading/twisting, and trimming. The OLCC Material Handling Specialist will work closely with the Farm Director and Team Leads to maintain regulatory compliance and uphold the standards of the Flower Team. In addition to daily Flower Team tasks, the OLCC Material Handling Specialist duties include; Prepping and packing out OLCC transfers, OLCC test events, and OLCC inventory & Metrc upkeep.

OUTCOMES: (In order of priority)

  • Master basic skills pertaining to flower processing such as destemming, sorting for mold, grading flower, trimming and all affiliated record keeping.
  • Work closely with the Farm Director to understand priorities and goals within the ODA and OLCC.
  • Attend and participate in Flower team meetings.
  • Balance Flower team workflow with Material Handling tasks.
  • Prepare accurate transfers to Portland.
  • Update Metrc inventory daily to maintain compliance with the OLCC.
  • Maintain the standards of Sun & Earth Cert compliance.
  • Utilize, refine, and continually improve inventory systems & SOPs.
  • Prepare and execute OLCC test events.
  • Manage the supplies inventory for the OLCC.
  • Support the OLCC harvest with recording Metrc source harvests, curing of material, and any other tasks as needed to support the Cultivation Team.
  • Master basic skills pertaining to harvest such as dry room set up, ripeness evaluation, harvesting, breakdown, trimpro, hanging, taking down dry rooms, operating kiln, burping, and all affiliated record keeping.
  • Master basic skills pertaining to field work such as planting, cable setup, trellising, pruning, weeding, and all affiliated record keeping.
  • Coaching and teaching: your competence at the above tasks should allow you to efficiently help others to learn these tasks. You will be expected to set a quick work pace and help communicate standards to seasonal help or folks new to the team.
  • Show up for work on time on scheduled days, giving as much notice as possible if unable to make a scheduled shift.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Preferred 3+ years relevant professional experience
  • Preferred 1+ years Metrc experience
  • Must be 21 years of age and have a valid OLCC Marijuana Handlers Permit
  • Strong communication skills and a healthy sense of humor
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to perform physical farm labor
  • Software we currently use a lot: Metrc (Oregon’s seed-to-sale cannabis tracking system), G Suite, Slack, Trello

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Hourly rate: $20-21.50/hour based on experience
  • Paid vacation: 4 weeks (flexible guideline, to be coordinated with team) Hourly: 0.04 hours accrued per hour worked, up to 80 hours per year
  • Paid sick time: 40 hours per year
  • Paid holidays: New Year’s Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day

WORK SCHEDULE, RELATIONSHIPS AND CULTURE

  • Schedule: 32 hours/week, 8 am - 5 pm M-Thurs with 1 hour unpaid lunch, unless otherwise agreed upon. 5 day work weeks will be required seasonally; plant out/harvest/post harvest, etc.
  • Relationships: The OLCC Material Handling Specialist will work closely with the Flower team, Farm Director and other farm based crew members.
  • Travel: This position requires minimal travel.
  • Culture: All team members are expected to participate in East Fork’s culture of continual improvement and to be flexible to the constant changes of a dynamic business and industry.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 32 per week
