Join La Crosse County's Long-Term Campuses as an Office Work Aide! You will work on an administrative team serving our diverse resident population at Hillview Health Care Center. Be the face of our campus during the evenings and on weekends to families, residents, and visitors!
Location:Hillview Health Care Center is in La Crosse, WI, on the city bus line and bike trails!
Schedule: 16.50 hours per pay period (two weeks). Weekday shifts are 4:30 to 7 p.m. Weekend shifts are 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Staff participate in a weekend rotation and holiday shift sign-up.
Wage depends on experience!
  • Up to $15.39/hr and $15.89/hr on weekends with differential.

Essential Job Functions

  • Greets, assists, directs, and answers questions of residents and visitors. [3]

  • Watches entrance door to maintain resident security and protect wandering residents. Redirect residents as needed.[3]

  • Performs clerical tasks such as alphabetizing, sorting, typing using a computer or typewriter and using a calculator on a limited basis. Operates large copy machine, clears jams and assists other users when necessary. [3]

  • Receives money, makes change and balances cash drawer. [3]

  • Procures and maintains inventory of office supplies for the facility and verifies and processes related invoices.

  • Answers incoming phone calls and transfers calls appropriately. [3]

  • Takes appropriate measures in emergency medical or fire situations or in other threats to health, welfare or safety. [3]

  • Maintains residents' rights and confidentiality of resident information; reports all suspected cases of resident abuse to the supervisor or Administrator. [3]

  • Supports all aspects of person centered care. Respects and acknowledges individuality and uniqueness of residents. [3]

  • Works safely and follows safety practices and standards of the facility; responsible for reporting or correcting any existing or potential safety or accident hazard. [3]

  • Reports to work when scheduled, with minimum sick and/or absence call-ins. [3]

  • In this public service position, employee is required to be courteous, cooperative and respectful at all times, with the public and clients. Also establishes and maintains a courteous, cooperative and respectful working relationship with other employees, supervisors and public officials.[3]

Physical demands: Sits at desk, uses hearing, near vision and fingering for typing and a calculator. Uses far vision for watching entrance door. Uses oral communication with clients, callers, and department staff. Sits, walks, stands, bends, reaches, pushes and moves about the office intermittently. Handles telephone, papers and manuals, etc., lifts files, and other office materials.[3]

  • Ability to respond quickly to situations that may arise regarding wandering residents.
  • Ability to speak clearly.

Training, Experience and Other Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED or currently attending high school.
  • Preference for individual over 18 years of age.
  • Preference for some clerical training.
  • Must have good work and attendance record.
  • Availability for weekend, weekday and holiday work.
  • Successful completion of background check as required by the Wisconsin Caregiver Law.

Benefits for this position depend on the number of hours worked.

  • If the position is full-time, then benefits would be available.
  • If the position is part-time, then limited benefits would be available (this would not include insurances unless 30 hours per week or more).
  • If the hours are less-than-half-time, then there are no benefits available.
