Job description

The Offsite Adoption Coordinator is a grant-funded position and is primarily responsible for maintaining day to day operations of Fulton County Animal Center satellite adoption location at the Warsaw PetSmart (640 W 300 N Warsaw, IN 46582.) We house between 4-10 cats at this location at any given time. This position will be responsible for twice daily (Monday-Saturday) care of these cats (AM & PM) with a split shift schedule-- example; 9-10:30am and 4-5pm. These specific hours are flexible. Besides daily care, the staff member will also be responsible for picking up cats from our facility in Rochester and transporting them to Warsaw Petsmart approximately 1-2 times a week. We will also have quarterly adoption events in which this staff member will be responsible for overseeing volunteers, and handling adoptable dogs at the adoption events.

Please note, personal vehicles must be used and we do not offer fuel reimbursement.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Regularly transport animals to and from offsite adoption center(s) to maintain consistent population, ensuring that animal locations are properly recorded and appropriate records accompany any offsite animals
  • Perform daily cleaning and feeding of cats, conduct adoption meet-and-greets, and process adoptions.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with Petsmart Adoption Center management and Fulton County Animal Center staff.
  • Report any animal health or behavior concerns to shelter management team
  • Ensure offsite adoption center(s) is fully stocked and supplies are properly stored
  • Follow department protocols and policies, ensuring to support Open Adoptions practices and philosophies and keep accurate records
  • Maintain continuing knowledge of the current animals available for adoption and a thorough understanding of their medical and behavioral needs to make good adoption matches
  • Ensure a culture of high quality customer service for both internal and external customers
  • Treat all animals (including humans!) with kindness, compassion, and empathy at all times
  • · Consistently model high levels of professionalism, ethical standards, humane handling of pets, and behaviors that align with our customer service values.

Administrative & Other Duties

· Standard Operating Procedures: Be well-versed in all current standard operating procedures (SOPs), providing updates, and creation of new SOPs as needed.

· Meetings: Attend Adoption Department meetings and Event meetings with the Marketing and Development Department, other meetings as requested.

· Assist in marketing/promotional materials & publicizing offsite events.

· Perform any other duties assigned by the Director.

Job Conditions

The role includes office and animal management activities, including handling fractious and excited animals. They often weigh over 50 pounds. Some of the work is done standing, walking, and bending. Urine and feces are often present, as are a variety of hazardous chemical agents and money handling. Workers are exposed to animal bites, various viruses, needles, and other sharp objects. Regularly exposed to strong and pungent odors.

The position requires working every Saturday, unless a volunteer or staff member can be found to cover the shift, as well as additional event times.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 18 – 22 per week
