Creditor's Rights law firm seeking an individual with between one- and five-years’ experience to fill the Of Counsel Attorney position for our Illinois practice. This individual will review pleadings to be filed in the State of Illinois and provide guidance on handling Illinois litigation. Responsibilities will include a wide variety of tasks associated with litigating debt collection matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review of correspondence and preparation of discovery and dispositive motions
- Review of lawsuits, motion for default judgment, and other pleadings to be filed in IL courts
- Provide analysis and advice on litigation strategy
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and organize high volumes of information
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm
Education and Experience:
- Background in civil litigation and experience with court proceedings
- Licensed to practice law in Illinois (admission to practice in additional states is ideal)
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws.
- Ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations
- Ability to draft legal pleadings, motions, discovery, etc
- Knowledge in Bankruptcy Law, Foreclosure Law or the FDCPA/FCRA/TCPA is a plus
- Experience in collection law and/or significant courtroom experience is a plus
Work Environment:
This flexible position is fully remote with weekly work expected to be between 15 and 20 hours. The work does not need to be performed during normal business hours.
