Job Purpose
The general purpose of your job is to keep children who are clients of HOTI safe at all times and to be respectful of the children and their families as valued customers. The primary purpose of your job position is to administer Occupational Therapy services in the KCPCC in accordance with all current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the VP Therapy Services, and/or Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide assessments and develop plans of care as needed and deliver Occupational Therapy treatments to residents of the KCPCC according to physician orders daily.
- Complete daily documentation of services including billing, and other documentation that may be required as needed.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians as need to keep them abreast of services and changes in functional levels and daily with the interdisciplinary staff in the KCPCC regarding Occupational Therapy services.
- Follow all regulatory requirements of a long term care facility, including infection control procedures on a daily basis.
- Complete all regulatory job requirements including annual TB, Flu vaccination, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
- Occupational Therapy as it relates to the pediatric population, tracheostomies and ventilators, and Assistive Technology is highly preferred.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Excellent communication skills including being able to read, write and understand the English language and the ability to deal with staff, families and others with dignity and respect is required.
- Honesty, high level of integrity and the ability to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers is required.
- Board certification and current Kentucky licensure as an Occupational Therapist is required.
- At least 1 year of pediatric experience, which may be during the course of study if required. Prefer additional experience in Assistive Technology and in working with children with multiple disabilities.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to move around throughout the day.
- Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
- Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
- Flexible work schedule to accommodate resident therapy needs.
- Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
- Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to push, pull, move and / or lift a minimum of 35 lbs up to 65 lbs unassisted, from the floor using proper body mechanics.
- Must be able to move to/ from the floor multiple times throughout the day.
- Must have sufficient sensory abilities to detect problems with residents and problem solve equipment issues to keep children safe.
