Job Summary:
Assists in program development and implementation of occupations therapy services to patients on the Child Psychiatric Inpatient Units
Conducts occupational screening to child inpatient population within 24 hours of admission to determine the need for a more comprehensive OT assessment and or/treatment
Evaluates patient response to OT treatment interventions and makes treatment plan of adjustments accordingly.
Responsible for maintaining up to date clinical records of all patient activities, progress notes, assessments and discharge summaries.
Develops and updates as necessary, protocols which guide the therapeutic modalities related to OT within the child/teen inpatient units
Keeps abreast of and applied current OT concepts/interventions. Serves as a mentor in the orientation of new creative arts staff/OT students and volunteers
Provides in-service training, education and consultation specific to occupational therapy and in order to comply with outside accrediting agencies
As assigned, performs a comprehensive assessment of patient s functioning utilizing structured interviews, task observation, leisure and life balance inventories, and standardized assessments, such as ACLS, COPM, and Interest Checklist and in accordance with policies and procedures.
Provides individual and group occupational therapy services in accordance with current standards of practice, such Trauma-Informed Care
Educational Skills Required (Degree(s), Certification(s), License, etc.):
BA/Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy
Registered by National Board of Certification of Occupational Therapy Association (NBCOT)
New Jersey Occupational Therapist License
BLS/CPR Certification Required, or must obtain after being hired

Work Experience Required:
- Minimum 1 year psychiatric/pediatric specialty and experience preferred
- Availability to work weekends as needed
