Job Description
- Developing ideas, plans, and procedures for initiation, expansion, improvement, and evaluation of therapy programs.
- Completing initial evaluations and re-evaluations for patients in the program; examining the condition of patients and analyzing their needs; determining the need for an occupational therapy evaluation and selecting and administering appropriate assessment tools to evaluate the patient.
- Interpreting evaluation data and writing comprehensive reports that reflect strengths and barriers to client participation; directing program development; and guiding evidence-based intervention.
- Preparing reports and attending multidisciplinary case meetings to decide and review the continuing treatment.
- Maintaining clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and agency system policy; adheres to federal and state regulations, and policies that affect occupational therapy practice.
- Managing case assignments dictated at the discretion of Capability Health’s needs in the Early Intervention and outpatient clinic programs.
- Maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion pertaining to the work environment.
- Managing COTA’s in the clinic or Early Intervention by providing supervision according to the NV standards and regulations.
- Uses professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making in practice.
- Participating in continuing education for professional development to ensure practice consistent with best practice and to meet Nevada Licensure requirements.
- Participating in monthly staff meetings; attending staff training.
- Managing patients with different types of personalities.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work in an environment with individuals with severe disabilities who may be developmentally and behaviorally challenged.
- Initial certification by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy is required.
- A current Occupational Therapy License from the State of Nevada is required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children using knowledge of treatment practices per discipline required.
- CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Knowledge of the federal, state local legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures that mandate and guide occupational therapy in practice is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) required.

- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. On regular occasions lift and/or move up to 50lbs and can request assistance if needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
