Education Qualifications -
Required Minimum Education: 2 Year/ Associates Degree Specialty/Major:
Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
Licensure/Certification Required: Licensed in State of Ohio PT/OT/AT Board
Licensure/Certification Preferred: CPR Certification
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with co-workers, physicians, patients and families. Analytical abilities to evaluate patient conditions, capabilities and progress. Complies with all applicable laws and regulations and practices.

Provides patient treatment under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Documents patient treatment and progress toward goals in the patient electronic health record. Implements established treatment programs and provides patient and family education
- Assists in planning and implementing educational, vocational and recreational programs established by the
- Occupational Therapist.
- Instructs, motivates and assists patients and their families in appropriate continued occupational therapy
- programs as well as care of and use of adaptive equipment.
- Observes and reports patients' responses to treatment and progress and reports orally and/or in writing to
- the Occupational Therapist.
- Collaborates with Occupational Therapist and other health team members to exchange and discuss patient
- information for planning, modifying and coordinating treatment programs.
- Assists is assessment of client's daily living skills and capabilities to determine extent of abilities and
- limitations.
- Designs and adapts equipment in working / living environment.
- Precepts in the direction and evaluation of clinical experience / internships of students from participating
- colleges and universities.
- Stays abreast of current developments and new technology in occupational therapy.
- Provides formal orientation to new Occupational Therapy Assistants, aides and volunteers.
- Maintains safety of the work environment including equipment and notifies appropriate personnel if necessary.
- Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Mission and Core Values. Adheres to standards and policies, laws
- and regulations. Demonstrates the ABC's of Mercy Health Culture. Holds self and others accountable.
