Form of workThe Calais School is a state approved, highly therapeutic special education school for students in grades K through 12 Plus with multiple learning disabilities as well as anxiety, mood, behavior and autism spectrum disorders. We are currently looking for a Occupational Therapist to work with our students. This position offers the opportunity for the Occupational Therapist to work with our Animal Assisted Intervention program during therapies.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing occupational therapy services to students as defined in the student's IEP.
- Review and maintain files for students receiving occupational therapy services, and directly communicate to The Calais School case manager regarding the student's IEP requirements and/or required status reports.
- Screen occupational therapy skills for students upon the written referral of faculty, and will refer students through the case manager for needed services.
- Monitor progress of students receiving occupational therapy services, including periodic observations in the classroom.
- Serve as a resource person at The Calais School.
- Provide in-service workshops for school staff when necessary as part of the school Professional Staff Development Program, or as an information meeting on concepts and techniques.
