The Occupational Therapist will provide a broad range of therapeutic programming through centralized groups, unit-based activities, individual sessions, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation programming (PSR classes) to adult patients with psychiatric disorders and developmental disabilities. The therapist assesses patient's needs and collaborates with the patient to develop treatment goals and objectives. The therapist uses best practice and evidence-based research to evaluate, plan, and implement, interventions clinically suited to the needs of patients. This position maintains and demonstrates competency in knowledge, skills and abilities required by the designated accreditation body.
This is a test-designated position and, as such, is subject to random and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.

Experience

Occupational Therapist 10
One year of professional experience providing therapeutic rehabilitation or habilitation services equivalent to an Occupational Therapist 9.
Occupational Therapist P11
Two years of professional experience providing therapeutic rehabilitation or habilitation services equivalent to an Occupational Therapist, including one year equivalent to an Occupational Therapist 10.
Certain positions may require a criminal history background check.
Position Location/Remote Office: This position is located at Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital 1312 Oakland Dr. Kalamazoo MI 49008 and the selected incumbent will be required to physically report to this office. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
o A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
o A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
o Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
