Job description

Position Summary
The mission of Orlando Health Advanced Rehabilitation Institute (ARI) is to improve the health and quality of life of the individuals and communities we serve. Our vision is to be a trusted leader inspiring hope through the advancement of health.
ARI provides rehabilitation care to inpatients on a 24- hour, 7 days a week basis. A Right Care philosophy is the foundation of all our programs. The institute provides care for patient as young as 12 years old.
Therapists and nurses work closely with other members of the team to develop and implement the plans of care for each patient. Our social workers play a key role as the coordinators of care for each patient by facilitating team conferences, meeting with patients / families, and communicating with insurance companies.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant will follow a plan of treatment for patient care established by a Licensed Occupational Therapist.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
• Demonstrates ability to appropriately treat patients according to professional standards of practice.
• Implements treatment and modifies accordingly.
• Provides patient/family/caregiver training as appropriate.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned
caseload.
• Demonstrates the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to
identify each patient's requirements relative to their age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as delineated in the
departmental policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates competency in the use, care, and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observing safety precautions and
providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.
• Communicates with the team on the patient's progress and needs verbally, and by preparing written documentation as required by
the department, and the care team. Identifies the need to update the treatment plan, and communicates input to the therapist.
• Communicates input for discharge planning to the therapist.
• Ensures accurate billing.
• Adheres to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state
and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Training
Graduate from approved college with an associate's degree in Occupational Therapy for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Licensure/Certification
Current license in the State of Florida as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Continuing education as required by State
Practice Act.
Maintain current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
Experience
