Pay Range: $16.95 - $24.69 per hour
Basic Job Function and Responsibilities
To work as a vital member of the patient's care delivery team as directed by the RN. Promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization.
Job Duties/Performance Expectations
- Performs scrub duties for cesarean sections and vaginal deliveries. Fulfills requirement to sign up for call coverage to meet the needs to the unit (specific amount of hours needed for call coverage will be determined by the needs of the unit and by the department manager).
- Assists in normal nursery with hearing screens, baths; assist Nursery RN with normal newborn cares; may assist in entering hearing screen results to the Iowa State Department.
- Demonstrates competency in providing age-specific care to patients. Participates in continuing education/training to retain and enhance this company.
- Escorts patient at time of admission and discharge, provides fresh water, transports patients, delivery and pick-up of trays and snacks.
- Performs all duties in compliance with applicable regulatory standards. Maintains knowledge base and continuing education to ensure compliance with JCAHO, and other guidelines. Notifies management of any breaches of standards and contributes to improvement processes.
- Performs all quality control checks per unit policy.Performs cleaning in accordance with hospital guidelines to ensure a clean environment for patients and guests. Includes terminal cleaning of OR and LDRs.
- Provides clerical support duties such as computer order entry, chart assembly, copying records and other information, tracking and reordering of supplies, answering the phones, call lights, main door and other duties as assigned.
- Stocks and rotates supplies as needed for Labor/Delivery, Nursery and OB/GYN areas.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- High school diploma, required or equivalent experience
Experience
- Must possess the ability to read and write, to accurately relay telephone verbal messages to perform a considerable amount of walking, standing, lifting and pushing; to relate to the public in a caring, tactful and courteous manner under all circumstances.
Certifications
- Certification as an Operating Room Technician or equivalent training, preferred
- BLS proficiency, required within 6 months of being hired.
