Overview:
The primary purpose of the Observation Unit Technician position is to provide direct patient care. Performs in a technical capacity to provide support to the professional staff in the evaluation and treatment of patients, and contributes to the overall orderliness and cleanliness of the unit under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. Exercises competency in all procedures within the scope of practice.

Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position required. Certification in phlebotomy required, or successful completion of a Medical Assisting program which includes phlebotomy training required. EKG certification preferred, and candidates without EKG must successfully complete training during new hire orientation at UH. One (1) year of acute care experience is preferred. BLS (CPR) required. Must have demonstrated proficiency in taking temperatures, pulses, blood pressures, and other simple procedures as indicated. Possesses ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
